Chelsea Football Club Women's team have confirmed the signing of a first professional contract by 18 years old Academy Product Ashanti Akpan.

Ashanti Akpan who has risen through the ranks of Chelsea Football Women's team since 2013, on Friday, 22nd of December 2023 signed a first professional contract with the Club which will see her remain with the London outfit till at least 2025. 

The Club in an Official statement wrote:
"Chelsea are delighted to confirm that Academy midfielder Ashanti Akpan has signed with the club until the summer of 2025, with the option to extend by a further year."
The Professional Contract signed by Ashanti Akpan who was born to a Nigerian Father and a Polish Mother but raised in England has attracted lots of congratulatory Messages on social media including from Nigerian Senior National team players such as Asisat Oshoala, and Kenneth Omeruo as well as Ex-National team player, Desire Oparanozie.

Ashanti Akpan is Eligible to Play for either Poland, England or Nigeria at Senior Level but of recent there are Several speculations about the player commiting her future to the Nigerian Senior Women's team, the Super Falcons despite having featured for England's U-16 National team.

The Promising Midfielder has never failed to show her Nigerian Heritage as she has been pictured on the Nigerian National team Jersey as well as displaying the Flag of the Nigerian National team on her Instagram profile.
