The Maiden Edition of the Much Anticipated Aisha Buhari Cup Finally Kicked off as Nigeria Super Falcons took on the Malian women National team at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos. 

The Aisha Buhari Cup is a Women's Football Tournament (Invitational Friendlies) Organized by the First Lady of Nigeria, with the Competition involving six Countries which are Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa, Mali, Ghana and Cameroon. 

The Competition which kicked off on Wednesday, 13th of September 2021, would be running through till the 20th of September. There are 10 games to be played all through the tournament at 2 different Venues (Onikan and Agege).


The First game of the tournament between Nigeria and Mali was Played at the Onikan Stadium Also known as the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Lagos State. The Super Falcons of Nigeria recorded the first win of the Tournament with a 2-0 Victory over their Malian Opponent. Two quick-fire goals from Substitute Monday Gift were enough to hand the Super Falcons all 3 points. Monday scored in the 82nd Minute handing Nigeria the lead with a glancing header before Doubling her tally in the 92nd minute with a well lobbed ball over the Onrushing Goalkeeper. 

The Match Ended 2-0 in Favour of the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

The Opening Match of the Aisha Buhari Cup saw some special Dignitaries which also includes FIFA President, Gianni Infantino,CAF President, Patrice Motsepe  as well as the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu amongst Others who were present as well. 


The Game Between Nigeria and Mali was Indeed a game of quality, particularly regarding to the condition of the Pitch, the Coverage of the game and the Officiating by Referees. All were Impressive and Top Notch.
