German Top Division side , Mainz 05 would be Hoping to secure an Extended loan deal for out-of-Favour Liverpool Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi.


Awoniyi Signed for the English Giants in 2015 but is yet to make his senior debut for the club. The 2015 U-17 World Cup Winner has been sent out on series of loan to different Clubs Including Frankfurt, Gent and a few others. The 22 Years old was Signed by Mainz in 2019 after an Impressive loan Display with Belgian club side, Royal Excel Mouscron where he bagged 11 goals in 19 Appearances.

Awoniyi has not enjoyed a good spell of game time with Mainz and has voiced out his frustrations but seems to be finding his form with the club ever since the resumption of German Football after being Suspended due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. However, According to Mainz Manager,Rouven Schroder, the club is in touch with Liverpool to Extend the Striker's Stay with the Club.

"I am very, very positive about him, Taiwo never let himself down, always had his head up and the absolute will to improve was never negative. It is a symbol of how team sport works."Schroder told Bild as reported by Goal

"We are in an exchange with Liverpool, that is an open position. We are now waiting for the last games. Then we'll see what the next steps are." He added.


Awoniyi has 1 goal in 11 Appearances for Mainz this season with his current contract set to expire by June 30th. The striker had once stated that he hopes to feature for Liverpool some day.
