Head Coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has confirmed that he has signed a New Contract with the NFF which will keep him in the National team until 2022.


Prior to the New contract signed, there have been different speculations as to the continuity of the coach with the team due to the fact that the new contract comes with an attached 'tough' conditions which has to be met before the contract could be signed. The Franco-German Gaffer signed a two and a half year deal which comes to an end after the Qatar 2022 World Cup.




“Yes, I can confirm that we found an agreement with NFF to continue our collaboration for two and half years." Rohr was quoted to have said according to SaharaReporters


“I am proud of the confidence shown by NFF, it is rare to work in the same national team for more than six years. Our team has a good future, our players have discipline and the staff is working in the same spirit."

“Yes, we want to go to the next AFCON and do very well there. And we want to start the World Cup qualifiers well and participate in Qatar with good results there.

“I am happy to continue with the squad we built together since 4 years. Stability is important for progress and complicity.

“There is still a big work to do. With the commitment of the players and the support of the fans we will able to do great things."

Gernot Rohr has been with the National team since 2016, recording a 59% win with only 9 losses in 49 games. Rohr is expected to work with former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo who is now the Assistant head coach of the National team.
