Former Chelsea Defensive Midfielder, Mikel Obi has picked his favourite Manager during his time with the Blues.

Mikel Obi, Controversially Signed by Chelsea in 2006 after it looked like the Famous blues Number 12 was heading to Old Trafford with Manchester United.

Mikel was handed his Chelsea debut by renowned Football Coach, Jose Mourinho in 2006 and went on to feature 119 times Under the Portuguese coach, winning the FA Cup and League cup in his first season with the club.

Mikel Obi Played a whooping 372 games for Chelsea from 2006-2017 winning 11 Trophies with the club including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Mikel was also named Chelsea Young Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

Mikel Departed Chelsea in 2017 and has since played for 5 different Clubs with his Most recent being Kuwait SC. 

Mikel enjoyed the Best of his Career in Chelsea, Playing under 10 different Coaches which includes Steve Holland (1 game), Jose Mourinho (119), Rafael Benitez (18), Andre Villa Boss (21), Roberto Di Matteo (36), Carlo Ancelotti (72), Guus Hiddink (39), Felipe Scolari (32), Ray Wilkins (1), Avram Grant 33. 

Despite playing the most games under Jose Mourinho, John Obi Mikel has pinpointed Roberto Di Matteo as the best coach he worked with while at Chelsea.

Speaking with reputable Media House, ThisDay, Mikel gave reasons for his choice of Roberto Di Matteo.

“At Chelsea, Di Matteo really understood me,” Mikel told ThisDay.

“And that was why in 2012, I had my best moments with the club because he gave me the freedom to play to express who I am on the pitch.

“And the same thing with Carlos Ancelotti because I played a lot of games under him. He gave me the license to do whatever I can do to make the team strong in the middle just like Guus Hiddink, but in all of them, I will single out Di Mateo as my best.”

Under Roberto Di Matteo, Mikel Obi won the UEFA Champions League Trophy which is Unarguably the Most prestigious title of his Chelsea career. The player was really instrumental in the Final against Bayern Munich.
