Chelsea's Head Coach, Thomas Tuchel has provided an Update on the Injury situation of First Choice Shotstopper, Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea are currently without their Main man in-between the sticks after the Senegalese picked up an Injury in Chelsea's Champions League triumph against Russian side, Zenit

Edouard Mendy was replaced by Second Choice Goalie Kepa Arizzabalaga in Chelsea's 3-0 win against Tottenham in Matchweek 5 of the English Premier League. The 2021 UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year is Also expected to Miss the blues Carabao Cup Clash Against Aston Villa in Midweek. 

Chelsea's Gaffer Thomas Tuchel is hopeful that Mendy would Return to full fitness before their Next Premier League Game against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side. 


"Mendy cannot play, he’s not in training so far," he said at a press conference ahead of the Villa game.

"Our hope is to Integrate him back into individual training hopefully tomorrow and then team training later in the week."

"We will try to do everything we can for Saturday [vs Manchester City], but he’s not ready yet."

"I think it’s possible [to play vs City], but it’s probably a race against pain and time, but I don’t know right now." He added. 


Chelsea Battles Aston Villa in Round 3 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday 22nd of September, 2021. The Blues are expected to play with either Kepa or Marcus Betinelli (3rd choice) in goal. 

They also Welcome Premier League Defending Champions, Manchester City to the Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
