Nigeria Super Eagles kicked off their 2022 World Cup Qualifying Campaign with a convincing 2-0 Win Against Liberia.

Nigeria Hosted Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. It was the Super Eagles who Stroke first in the 22nd Minute after a well worked Set piece routine From the Corner between Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho yielded a Positive result. Iheanacho passed the ball to Iwobi from the Corner flank and the Everton Man returned the ball which was slammed into the net by Kelechi Iheanacho, beating the Liberian Goalkeeper at his Near post.


The Leicester City man got his second of the Evening with yet another beautifully worked goal. Left-back Jamilu Collins threw the ball into the Opposition box and Alex Iwobi Headed the Ball towards Iheanacho who met the ball with a Sublime control before sending The Liberian Goalkeeper the wrong way.

Nigeria went into Halftime with a 2-0 lead. The Eagles Cruised on to Victory in the Next 45 Minutes, holding on to Maximum point. The Liberian Team created no real Goal-Scoring opportunity to trouble Maduka Okoye on goal who had a rather quiet Evening.


The Super Eagles will now Travel to Cape Verde for their second game against the Blue sharks which is to be played on Tuesday, 7th of September 2021. As things stands now, Nigeria are sitting comfortably at the Top of the Group with 3 points while Cape Verde and Central African Republic (C.A.R) Both have a point each and sits second and third Respectively. Liberia occupies the fourth position.
