Former Super Eagles Goalie, Vincent Enyeama discusses on starting his Career with the Super Eagles, Going from a Striker to a defender, not Moving to English Clubs as well as No longer following Nigerian Football. 

The shotstopper was Engaged in an Instagram Live session with the Super Eagles Supporters Club which was monitored by Footynaija.com.ng

Vincent Enyeama was asked about how he felt after making his Debut for the super Eagles of Nigeria against Kenya in 2002




"I don't know how to put that feeling because words can't really express it.....For me, the feeling was Awesome, the feeling was something out of this world but the truth of the whole thing is, the feeling after is something i know that was going to last because i was really determined... My dream was to make 15 years but i did 13. I feel Proud, that Prestige right in me from my Heart from my blood that i did it for My country.. I won Everything for Nigeria, Club level and National Level and I'm so proud"

Vincent Eyeama was further asked about how he felt like Playing and keeping a clean sheet against England at the 2002 FIFA World Cup

"For the feeling during the Match... I don't see opponents, i see football. I have trained my Mind right from my child hood Days to only focus on the Ball, my focus is always on the ball not who is in front of me, probably is the best player in the world, Maradona...Pele...Messi....Paul Scholes, whatever, i don't Care. That Feeling, that match was a big one for me" 




The Former Lille Man further Thanked the Super Eagles Supporters club for their continuous support during a game. Proceeding Further, Vincent Enyeama also discusses on his Goal scoring prowess and how it all started for him becoming a Goal-scoring Goalkeeper. He had 20 career goals

"I was Very good growing up as a striker and a goalie, so it gave me the confidence. I think one thing that stopped me was that i was Afraid of Tackles and i was not the Fastest of Strikers but i was very intelligent, Movement was Perfect Upfront,Dribbling, Skills, One-on-one was my strongest point, i knew how to create the Opportunity, the space for my self but then to tell you the truth, i was very very Afraid of Tackles"




When asked if he had any Goalkeeper he looks up to, His Response was:

" No,no.. I am my own hero, i am my own legend..i don't want to be like another person, i want to be better than my Yesterday... I never looked up to anybody"

Enyeama also Discussses on the chances he had playing for Europe top clubs

" I don't like to be on the bench...so i preferred staying back at Lille. There was no need going to Tottenham and Be on the Bench, there was no need going to Arsenal and Be a reserve Goalie and you Know that the person in front of You is not better than you, so i didn't want that feeling. It's not just about going to England.I know Nigerians like English Players... i didn't really like the Bench"

Recently, Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon were Nominated for the Prix Marc-Vivien foe Award  which is Given to the best African Player in french ligue 1 after every season. The Award has previously been won by Enyeama which leaves him as the Only Nigerian to have Clinched the Award. The Former Lille Shot-stopper discusses on the Chances of Osimhen and Simon winning the Award

" I really wish they do but it would be hard, i have not seen the List, i really wish they do but then, Osimhen might be in the better shoe to win. That thing is done by Voting and you know that there are not a lot of Nigerians in France but i really wish one of them to win, some one to succeed me"




Enyeama Further opened up on his Plans to Establish a relationship with Lille in the interest of Nigerian Players.

"I am trying to see if i can establish a relationship between Lille and Nigeria so that they can take Nigerian Players because Lille is Such a Massive club"

He also Opened up on not following Nigerian football when asked about the Chances of the Current Super Eagles Squad winning the AFCON.




"Current Super Eagles squad, i wouldn't say i know what is Lacking because i have not been following Nigeria Football. You know, with the way i was treated, the way i was kicked out of the team, i really turned the page. I have not been Following Nigerian Football in the last few years and that's the truth... I really wish they would win, they have the capacity" He said
