Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo has admitted that he was subject to wrong accusation after that iconic title deciding last match day game between QPR and Mancity in 2012.


Manchester United and Manchester City went into the Last Match day of the 2011/12 EPL season levelled on point, with Mancity ahead on goal difference. Both team needed a win but hoped, their closest rival drops point. Man Utd were close to securing the league title as they already won their game at Sunderland while Mancity looks to settle for a draw. 




Aguero's 94th Minute goal after an assist from Mario balotelli and beating QPR's Defender, Taye Taiwo, was all the citizens needed to clinch the EPL title over Rivals, Manchester United in a heartbreaking fashion. 


Seven Years after, The Left footed Nigerian left back has had to reminisce his experience in the hands of Nigerian Manchester United faithfuls who alleged accused him of letting Aguero through on goal.




“I remember when I’m walking in London then, Manchester United fans will come up to me and tell me that I helped Man City win the game. And I would be like what are these people talking about?" Taye taiwo said in an interview with Brila FM.


“They said I allowed Man City win because Yaya Toure was there because my former teammate Samir Nasri (at Marseille) was there."




“The game was difficult for me because if I had touched Aguero it was going to be a penalty, so I didn’t have any option.” He concluded


Taye Taiwo left QPR the same year in 2012 after his loan contract with the Hoops elapsed at the end of the Season. Taiwo was further sent on loan to Dynamo kyiv by Parent club, AC Milan where he only featured four times.
