Nigerian Midfielder, John obi Mikel has gotten his contract with the Turkey based club terminated on mutual consent, the club confirms.

This Decision is coming  three days after the Former Chelsea Midfielder called for the Cancellation of the Turkish football season due to the wide spread of Corona Virus.

“There is more to life than football. I do not feel comfortable and don’t want to play football in this situation,” Mikel wrote on his official Instagram account three days ago.

“Everyone should be home with their families and loved ones in this critical time. The season should be cancelled as the world is facing such turbulent times.” He concluded.

Trabzonspor currently sits 1st on the Super Lig table with 53 points from 26 games and are slightly trailed by Arch rivals Istanbul Basaksehir on goal Difference. The pair met earlier this week and played out a 1-1 draw in an intriguing Encounter
