Liberia’s President George Weah trained with the National team on Monday, 7th October, ahead of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Preliminary round qualifiers.


President Weah wore a bib with the number 22 and also the name of his son, Timothy Weah scribed behind the bib. His son, however, represents the United States on international duties.



President Weah who played as a forward in his active years assumed various roles in the training session which included goalkeeping and also giving some coaching instructions.
The 1995 FIFA best player of the year, who also doubles as Liberia’s President trained with the team to serve as extra motivation for the players to fight for the country.
Liberia, who recently qualified from the Preliminary stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers will face Chad on Wednesday, 9th October in Liberia.
This is not the first time George Weah took part in a training session of a football team after assuming office as the President of Liberia, as he trained with his former club Aljazira back in March 2019
